Recent Fairtrade activities have included Fairtrade Lessons & a Fairtrade Poetry Booklet printed with St Herbert’s School children – Produced & financed by Lakes & Dales Co-op, an Easter Fairtrade Table Display in Booths, a Keswick Town Councillor ~ Lorraine Taylor, becoming a Keswick & District Fairtrade Committee member & a new Volunteer found for our Fairtrade Flower Bed by the Lake Road Underpass.
Our annual donation to Keswick Area Food Share continues & local old people’s homes have received Fairtrade donations also. Our Campaigning activities with our partners Transform Trade & our funds with Shared Interest remain productive.
The Cumbria Fairtrade Network Spring Meeting was encouraging of Fairtrade in Schools & Churches & as a County we have recently renewed a joint commitment with Cumbria & Cumberland Women’s Institute (CCFWI) to using Fairtrade products where possible in collective gatherings & individual homes.
We are planning our 2026 AGM – next month where Steve Beavis our Community Link from Lakes & Dales Co-op will be speaking & we will be sharing Fairtrade refreshments.
We continue writing in the Keswick Reminder & Posting on our Social Media about Fairtrade concerns, products & campaigns.
This year Easter had a great choice of Chocolate Eggs – but at a considerable price & current world conflicts are making economics far more challenging.
We hope to welcome new Committee member Lesley Smith – at our AGM.
